2024 Spring BK21 Virtual Writing Clinic
2024-03-29
[KU GSIS BK21 Virtual Writing Clinic] For all participants and fellows of the GSIS BK21 Program of Glocal Studies, the Virtual Writing Clinic will be offering online tutoring sessions by appointment. User Guide (Writing Clinic Policies) Virtual Writing Clinic operates by appointment, so to get started, writers need to make an appointment with editors. Editors will provide links to facilitate appointment scheduling. The process involves the following steps: 1. Editors create appointment slots. 2. Writers choose a slot and send their materials to editors. 3. Upon receiving the materials, the editor will schedule a specific meeting time. 4. Editors review and revise the materials. 5. Editors and writers meet to discuss the writings on the scheduled appointment date. 6. Editors are responsible for submitting a report after the meeting. To ensure the successful operation of the VWC, please follow these guidelines. 1. Email your materials to an editor no later than 48 hours before your scheduled meeting. 2. Prepare specific questions about your writing before the meeting. 3. Writers are allotted a 30-minute appointment. 4. Limit your submission to no more than 4,000 words. 5. Schedule only one appointment per week. 6. If necessary, cancel appointments at least 12 hours before the scheduled time. 7. Once an editor completes proofreading, writers and editors will convene online to discuss the edited materials, using platforms such as Zoom or Google Meet. If a writer does not appear at the appointment without a valid explanation, the use of the VWC privilege may be lost for two weeks. FAQ
Should the thesis topic be related to glocal conflict management?
2021-07-08
Yes it is. Many students tend to find it difficult to write a thesis on the topic of glocal conflict, which is a combination of globality and locality in social, political, and economic aspects. As a conflict, it refers to factors that cause domestic problems that are affected by global phenomena and current issues. Simply saying, any topic that students are interested in will be related to glocal conflict.

Korea's trade policy and performance in turbulent times (2022)
2022-10-20
「Korea's trade policy and performance in turbulent times」 ●저자 : 강문성, 박인원 ●학술지명 : The World Economy ●게재년월 : 2022년 8월 ●링크: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/twec.13331 [초록] This paper is a complementary study to gain a better understanding of Korea's recent trade performance in the context of the World Trade Organisation's (WTO) 2021 Trade Policy Review (TPR) on Korea. The TPR noted that Korea's external economic activities performed relatively well because Korea was able to limit the negative impact of recent turbulence in the global trade environment through enhanced regional cooperation and integration and reform since the East Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s. In addition, Korea's advanced information and communication technology has helped to mitigate external influences emanating from the global turmoil in the era of digitalisation. Evaluating Korea's recent trade performance, we found export's declining contribution to output growth and increasing vulnerability to external influences. Continuous efforts to widen and deepen regional cooperation together with efforts to rebalance value-creation activities are required.
