[초록]

This paper is an historiographical review on the modern and contemporary Japanese studies in the Korean academia during the last two years. It reconstructs the researches on imperial governmentality, brokers of empire, the Japanese in colonial Korea, the Koreans in imperial Japan, the reinvention of tradition, modernity, gender, and the new middle class appeared between empire and colony. On postwar Japan, it introduces the studies on the tension between history and memory in recalling the 150th years of Meiji Restoration, the 100th years of March First Movement, and the postwar Japanese development.
